Role: Senior Art Director / Structural Designer
Translate dense, high-utility corporate information into interactive, tactile objects that demand engagement on desktops and at events. The goal was to break away from standard flat, disposable brochures by creating geometric, self-assembling structural forms that users physically interact with, increasing information retention through tactile exploration.
Geometric Ideation & Form Exploration:
Structural Prototyping
Explored diverse polyhedral forms—ranging from classic six-sided cubes to three-sided pyramids—to balance maximum usable surface area for typography with structural stability and ease of deployment.
Die-Line Engineering & Panel Mapping:
Precision Vector Layout
Engineered custom, interlocking die lines. Mapped complex editorial layouts across independent geometric planes, ensuring seamless typographic continuity and visual alignment once the flat sheets were folded into their 3D forms.
Material Specification & Tactile finish:
Production & Assembly
Selected heavy-weight, high-caliper matte cardstocks capable of holding rigid score lines and sharp folds without tearing or buckling, ensuring the structural integrity of the final physical installations.
The Die-Line: Custom-engineered layouts that prioritized material yield and structural stability.
The Fold Logic: Integrated precision scoring allows for clean assembly.
Typographic Mapping: Calculated typographic placement across flat planes to ensure perfect horizontal alignment once the object reached its 3d state.
Note on Complexity: To test the limits of this system, I engineered a dodecahedron from scratch. Solving the spatial geometry and fold-logic for this form remains my benchmark for bridging 2D brand identity with 3D physical constraints.
By transforming corporate collateral from flat print into functional desktop sculptures, these dimensional pieces achieved a prolonged shelf-life, remaining on users' desks as permanent interactive brand fixtures.
